ALAMINOS CITY–Certified rice seed subsidy provided by the city government is now available to farmers here in time for the planting season.

At least 6,000 bags of seeds are on offer at P600 each, half its cost of P1,200 per bag. Half the price will be covered by the local government.

City agriculturist Arceli Talania said one bag is good for one hectare of land and a farmer, who is tilling at least three hectares, could get a maximum of three.

City administrator Wilmer Panabang said this rice subsidy program, intended to help farmers lessen their farm input costs, is already on its 6th consecutive year.

The certified seeds are supplied by local seed growers in the city and other parts of Pangasinan.
