Pangasinan Chess Fest 2011 opens April 4

LINGAYEN–Chess buffs of all ages can join the Pangasinan Chess Festival 2011 which opens on April 4 at the Provincial Library here at the capital town.

The tournament, sponsored by the provincial government and organized by the Philippine Chess Federation (PCF), will have two categories: the 2nd Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. Cup Open Chess Tournament (April 4-5) and the National Age-Group Chess Championship (April 8-12).

The chess festival, with the theme “Nurturing Excellence in Chess for future Pangasinan Grandmasters”, is part of the provincial government’s sports development program for the promotion of chess in Pangasinan by providing a venue for enthusiasts to play against grandmasters.

For the National Age-Group, the registration fee for Pangasinan residents is P100.00 (proof of residence must be presented), and for others P250.00.

Birth certificate is required from all participants.
