Espino bikefest runs May 2

PANGASINAN’S professional and elite amateur cyclists get on the road on May 2 for the Gov. Amado T. Espino Cup, a foreword event for choosing the province’s cycling team members for next year’s Le Tour de Filipinas.

The 195-kilometer event which is part of the Pista’y Dayat celebration from April 23 to May 3, will start and finish at the beachfront of Lingayen, traversing the coastal towns of Bugallon (Socony junction), Labrador, Sual, Alaminos City, Bani, Agno (Banganoda junction), Burgos, Dasol, Infanta, then back to Dasol, Burgos, Mabini, Alaminos City taking the Don Pedro Braganza boulevard, Sual, Labrador and Lingayen via barangay Domalandan.

Provincial sports coordinator Modesto Operania said the winner of the race, initiated by the governor and exclusively for Pangasinenses, will earn the title ‘2011 Pangasinan Road Race Cycling Champion’ with a cash prize of P25,000 plus a trophy.

Total prizes amount to P98,000 with the first and second runners-up to receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

The pedal-by-pedal account from start to finish will be aired live over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, 1161 Khz AM.–JAGJr.
