URDANETA’S economy is expected to continue to grow further this year with its scheduled construction of infrastructure projects.

City Administrator Ramil San Juan told the PUNCH last week that projects for the first quarter this year include the continuation of the concreting of the roads in the city.

He said that Mayor Amadeo “Bobom” Perez IV hopes to complete the concreting of at least 95% of the city streets and roads until the end of his term.

The improvement of the city’s sidewalks in the commercial districts and other road improvements will continue with the P50 million allocation for infrastructure.

New classrooms are also scheduled to begin construction this year while repairs of old buildings and purchase of new school equipment are being pursued under the special education fund.

The construction of a two-storey building, adjacent to Urdaneta’s old city hall, to house the expanded services of the city government particularly the one-stop-shop for business taxes, is also in the works in the first quarter this year. – Desiree Sanchez
