ANGEL Gumarang is now the new head of coach of the Lyceum Northwestern University’s “Dukes” basketball team, last year’s basketball league champion in Dagupan City.

Atty. Gonzalo Duque, LNU president, said among Gumanrang’s responsibilities include recruitment and training of prospective basketball players for the varsity team.

A former chairman of Barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan City, Gumarang used to be the head coach of the University of Pangasinan “Greyhounds” and “Webczars” in 1998-2008. He steered the PRISAA Region I basketball team to a 2nd runner-up finish in the 2006 PRISAA National Games held in Pangasinan.

Gumarang also served as commissioner of the PRISAA-UCAAP Collegiate Basketball League in 2007-2010 and is presently the regional director of the National Referees Commission. — (Philamer C. Celi)
