2010 Bataoil bikefest set Jan. 24
ABOUT 60 riders are expected to strut their wares in the province’s first cycling road race this year, which will start and finish in Mangatarem on January 24.
The bikefest, dubbed as the “2010 Bataoil Cycling Challenge, Tour de Segundo Distrito”, is sponsored by retired P/Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil and under the auspices of the municipal government headed by Mayor Teddy Cruz in conjunction with the celebration of Mangatarem town fiesta.
The route will traverse all the eight towns of the second district of the province twice, with an approximate distance of 158 kilometers.
Cash prizes totaling P32,000, trophies and medals are up for grabs. The champion’s cash prize is P7,000 and the first and second runners-up to receive P5,000 and P3,000, respectively. All finishers will receive incentive prizes.
“This is our first sports project of the year before the wet season comes,” said Bataoil.
“We will continue promoting sports competitions purposely to give the youth a chance to prove their mettle in their chosen sports career,” he added.
The pedal-by-pedal account will be aired live over DZRD Sonshine Radio 981 Khz AM.–JAGJr.
