Some 1,000 athletes, players, coaches and officials will participate in the 20th regional athletic meet of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Region 1 on November 27-30 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) in Lingayen.
Seven tertiary school divisions, also called PRISAA chapters, will take part in the event.
The winners in the different sporting events will move on to compete in the games among the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) as well as the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) in January next year.
PRISAA Pangasinan 1 division will host this year’s event, which will be opened with a street parade from the provincial capitol site to the NRSCC followed by an opening ceremony at the NRSCC gym.
Among the featured sports are baseball, football sepak takraw, basketball, beach volleyball, softball, volleyball, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sports, karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo.
Meanwhile, Atty. Arturo de Veyra, PRISAA Region 1 president, said the unified CHED (Commission on Higher Education) national games, wherein some 4,000 first place winners who participated in the 17 PRISAA and SCUAA regional meets, will be held in Tacloban City in February next year.—JAGJr.
