Prominent DWAD alumni join 2009 homecoming

TWO graduates of the Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD) who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields are joining the school’s grand alumni homecoming on November 21.

Phares Parayno, Ph.D.,  (Batch 1979) and Dr. Arnel Gerald R. Gazmen, MD, (Batch 1976) have confirmed their participation.

Parayno, currently chairman of the Department of Environment of Miriam College in Quezon City, will be one of the inspirational speakers in the afternoon of Nov. 21.

Dr. Gazmen is presently the Supervising Administrative Officer and OIC, Director for Support Services of the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

Parayno earned his B.S. Chemical Engineering degree at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and graduated cum laude; Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and Management at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand and PhD in Energy Management and Environment Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

He also handles the environment dimension of national security in the Masters of National Security Administration at the National Defense College of the Philippines and chairs the Rules Change Committee of the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation.

Gazmen, a consistent valedictorian from grade school to high school, finished his pre-med course at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, his BS MD at Lyceum Northwestern University, Masteral Degree in Development Management at the Open University Systems of the Pangasinan State University.

He had been with the Management Development Program and the Health Care Management Program of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). He is the core faculty of the Leadership and Management Training Program of the Region 1 Medical Center. —LM
