CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union–Almost 1,000 applicants are racing to fill the 360 new slots open for the Ilocos Region police force (PRO1).

The regional police office said the big number of qualified applicants is an indication that the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to attract quality personnel.

The Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division of PRO1 reported that the 360 quota allocation was distributed as follows: Ilocos Norte, 60; Ilocos Sur, 48; La Union, 112; and Pangasinan, 140.

Police Chief Supt. Ramon Gatan, regional director, said all the applicants are bachelor’s degree holders, some even have master’s degrees, while a few are graduates of Bachelor of Laws.

The successful applicants will tentatively take their oath of office on July 1 this year.

The new officers will subsequently undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course, the six-month Field Training Program and the 45-day Special Counter insurgency Operations Unit Training in order to attain permanent status.

A PO1 receives P15,126 gross pay, inclusive of the P9,466.00 basic pay and other benefits.#
