A huge crowd of Filipinos gathered at Saint Justin Church, San Jose, California, on September 20 to celebrate the Feast Day of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, the First Filipino Saint.

Most of the Filipinos were in their Filipino attire — the men in Barong Tagalog and the women in Mestiza dress. English and Pilipino songs were sung at Holy Mass.  Immediately after the Mass, a Filipino Fiesta reception, complete with “litson”, followed.

The Church Parish Priest Fr. Riche Bueza, who hails from Urdaneta, led the celebration.

Filipino priests representing various parishes, in procession, gave tribute to San Lorenzo Ruiz at the beginning of the Mass, which was concelebrated with Msgr. Cilia, Vicar of Priestly Ministry.

Diocesan Council of Filipino Catholics, San Jose, where many overseas Pangasinenses live, was among the various sponsors.
