SAN CARLOS CITY–Smokers beware.

When in San Carlos City, remember not to take a nicotine puff inside public vehicles plying any road in the city or you may find out too late that the momentary nicotine rush may not be worth it after all.

A jeepney or bus driver can very well turn you over to the police for violating City Ordinance No. 07-08 and compel you to fork over a P200 fine or render community service for three days at eight hours each should you risk lighting a cigarette inside their units while cruising around the city.

The city ordinance banning cigarette smoking inside public utility vehicles as sponsored by City Councilor Samuel C. Millora, has been unanimously approved by the council and passed for immediate enforcement.

This ordinance was sought by City Health Officer Dr. Pablo Mondok III to protect the health of non–smokers who are exposed to second hand smoke.—CIO
