MANAOAG–The police force here is ready to implement additional security measures during the observance of Holy Week this week when devotees and tourists flock to the town’s popular pilgrimage site, Our Lady of Manaoag.

P/Supt. Mateo Casupang, town’s chief, said a big crowd is anticipated as in previous years, which usually brings about vehicular traffic gridlock and peace and order concerns.

Aside from the shrine of the miraculous Virgin of Manaoag, people also troop to the Virgin’s Well in Barangay Pugaro and the Pyramid of Asia Healing Center in Barangay Cabanbanan.

Casupang told The PUNCH that he has requested additional teams from the Regional Mobile Group and the Philippine Army to augment their local force.

Motorists/Police Assistance Centers, assisted by volunteer communication groups and other civic-oriented groups, have been tapped for their services during the Holy Week by Casupang.#
