JCI Dagupan adopts Sitio Calima as project

JCI Dagupan Inc. has declared Sitio Calima in Pantal its adopted community for 2008.

The officers and members of the chapter made this symbolic pledge on the occasion of its 57th Induction Ceremony and simultaneous formal launching of the Care Calima Program through a series of community projects last March 1.

Newly inducted president Ryan Ravanzo said the program will benefit residents of Sitio Calima through monthly projects and activities that will focus on children, health, livelihood and development concerns.

Last Saturday, the local chapter commenced its 120-day Feed Calima project to address the high protein energy malnutrition among children, mostly underweight, numbering almost a hundred.

The Healthy Calima medical-dental mission project in partnership with Councilor Jess Canto and Region I Medical Center volunteers likewise ensued throughout the day.

The Green Highways Calima program followed with the planting of a hundred fruit bearing trees and mangrove seedlings along the Sitio Calima section of the new Dawel-Pantal Lucao road.

A clear departure from its almost 57 years of formal dinner reception and induction program, Ravanzo said the leadership training organization opted to funnel its resources to the Care Calima program, in coordination with the Barangay Council of Pantal, CSI Group of Companies, Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, and Councilors Michael Fernandez, Dada Reyna and Joey Tamayo.

“Let us translate positive change into positive actions. We can change lives one community a time,” he said.#
