Not very many know that it was a Pangasinense who topped the 2007 licensure examination for certified public accountants.

To honor the topnotcher, the provincial board of Pangasinan has passed a resolution commending Richard Serrano for placing first in the recent licensure examination for certified public accountants.

“I’m very happy that they recognized me for topping the exam. It’s a great honor for me,” said Serrano in an interview with The PUNCH.

The 22-year old Serrano hails from Barangay Palacpalac, Pozorrubio and graduated from the Saint Louis University in Baguio City.

The recognition of his feat as a topnotcher was contained in a provincial board resolution passed Monday.

Serrano is presently working at Sycip Gorres Velayo and Co. (SGV), the Philippine’s premier accounting firm.

Serrano said he dreams of becoming a certified internal auditor and director of SGV within the next five years and is considering going to law school.
