PANGASINAN’s well-known and dreaded cycling squad, the “Pitaki Boyz”, has again proven its prowess last Wednesday by conquering the national roads of the Bicol region and ruled the one day Tour of Camarines Norte in a most stunning fashion: bagging the top five positions.

Bicolano cycling aficionados were surprised and impressed by the Pangasinense team.

Former national team member Renato Sembrano of Mangaldan finished first, pocketing the top prize worth P10,000 plus trophy, while Binalonan ace Merculio Ramos Jr., also an erstwhile member of the national team, came in a close second to bag P7,000 and also with trophy.

The duo clocked the 170-kilometer long and mountainous Maharlika Highway that started and ended at Talisay town in four hours, 43 minutes and 28 seconds.

San Fabian son Sherwin Carrera finished third, eight seconds off the pace to earn P5,000 and also with trophy.

2007 PD Open Cycling Challenge winner Ericson Obosa from Manaoag and San Jacinto stalwart Reynaldo Navarro, also both ex-members of the national squad landed fourth and fifth respectively.

There were 97 participants mostly from the Southern Luzon region and Manila.–JAGJr.
