STA.BARBARA — Some 1,000 reading glasses will be given free to public school teachers from Districts 1 and 2 here who will hold their general assembly and Christmas Party on December 21 and 22.

Dr. Emmanuel Cabangon, councilor of  Sta. Barbara and a noted eye, ear nose and throat specialist, will conduct the clinic before distributing the reading glasses solicited by his brother-in-law, retired Police Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco from his friend Berting Licoc of Candelaria, Quezon for the benefit of the teachers.

Licoc is one of the officers of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Quezon who expressed his desire to help the people of Pangasinan.

Velasco, who will not be available during the activity, said the solicited glasses are his gifts to the teachers in his town as they might be in need of new reading glasses.

Cabangon, who will examine the eyes of the teachers first to find out reading eye glasses suited to them, said the holding of the clinic and distribution of the glasses during the teachers’ general assembly and Christmas Party will be convenient for the teachers.

Velasco pledged he will continue soliciting reading glasses for barangay officials of Sta. Barbara and other towns.

“We will try to keep this project to continue as long as there are willing donors of reading glasses,” he said. — LM
