AFP, PNP ready for CPP-NPA anniversary

SAN MANUEL -The unit commanders of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the sixth district of Pangasinan met to map out plans last week to strengthen their anti-insurgency drive in anticipation of the December 29 anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army.

The meeting, presided over by Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil, Ilocos police regional director and Col. Anthony Alcantara, Army’s 701st brigade commander, included an ocular inspection of the facilities of the San Roque Dam and a review of the security details for the dam.

Bataoil said the meeting was in line with President Arroyo’s Executive Order 546 directing the PNP to support the AFP in anti-insurgency drive. He expressed satisfaction over the established coordination between the AFP and the PNP in the drive against CPP/NPA and in maintaining peace and order in the region.

The meeting was attended by  Sr. Superintendent Alan Purisima, provincial police director of  Pangasinan;  the group commander of Regional Mobile Group 1, Provincial Mobile group commander and  the police chiefs of sixth district. They were welcomed by San Roque Power management represented by Bill Connell.

Connell assured the PNP and Army of their support and cooperation in the security and peacekeeping effort. – EVA
