Tinda’y Labi now legal

THE holding of the ‘Tinda’y Labi’ along A.B. Fernandez Avenue during the weekends of  November was finally given a legal status through an ordinance passed on Monday by the city council, after three outings.

When Tinda’y Labi, sponsored by private organizations, was launched on November 10, it operated under a temporary permit issued by then Acting Mayor Alvin Fernandez.

Thus, when ‘Tinda’y Labi’ was held November 17 and 18, it had no permit at all as Mayor Benjamin Lim did not bother to extend a temporary permit and at the same time,  the city council still failed to come up with an ordinance  authorizing the same.

“I am glad to inform you that we already solved the dilemma by passing an ordinance,” said Councilor Alex de Venecia.

De Venecia said the same measure also provided for a 80-20% income sharing from the gross receipts between the sponsor and the city government.

He further said the 80-20 sharing basis, not only includes income realized per table of six square meters, but also contributions made by corporate sponsors.

De Venecia also sought that the sponsors of the ‘Tinda’y Labi’ — Dagupan Bangus Jaycees and the Badminton Association of Dagupan — should render a financial statement not later than 30 days after the activity. — LM
