147 Pangasinenses so far returned from Lebanon

Some one hundred forty seven overseas Filipino workers from Pangasinan have already been repatriated as of Wednesday last week.

But they, together with 77 from Ilocos Sur, 38 from Ilocos Norte, and 64 from La Union have complained that most of them left their employers without being paid their salaries.

According to Marivic Mondina, acting OWWA regional director, the evacuees have been requesting assistance for their unpaid salaries.

And those who were lucky to get paid as domestic helpers complained of getting only $150 monthly instead of the $200 as stipulated in their contracts.

Consequently, they are now pressing OWWA to provide them alternate overseas employment, preferably in Singapore or Hong Kong.

Others are applying for P50,000 business loan as livelihood assistance payable in three years. Mondina added.

Fortunately, no returning OFW from the region has been reported injured or killed  as a result of   Israeli  bombing or abuse from their former employers.- EVA
