Urbiztondo – A newly retired teacher is in hot water after one of her pupils from the Dalanguiring Elementary School here complained to the police that he was beaten 29 times and was made to chew a piece of chalk sometime in January this year.

Mrs. Emily Soriano, who just retired in early February, is now facing a complaint before the provincial prosecutors’ office for allegedly inflicting injuries on eight-year old Ismael de Vega, a Grade II pupil, whom she beat in his buttocks with a bamboo stick.

The boy remembered the number of times he against Soriano before Provincial Schools Superintendent Alma Torio who immediately forwarded the same to the Department of Education regional office.

The boy said it was not only he who was beaten by their teacher but others who also committed errors in their math exam.

Because of the trauma he received from his teacher, the boy refused to go to school any more. But he was eventually persuaded by parents to just transfer to Section II from Section 1 where the teacher is a little kinder.

He said his seatmate whom he did not identify received more beatings since the latter had more mistakes.

It was not learned whether the administrative case will prosper since Soriano had just retired by the first week of February.
