Dagupan, Zamboanga cities to forge sisterhood pact

Dagupan City officials are expected to leave for Zamboanga City on February 26 to formalize the city’s acceptance of the terms of the sisterhood agreement between Dagupan and Zamboanga City.

The planned agreement was initially discussed during a call to Dagupan’s Sangguniang Panlungsod by Zamboanga City officials who attended the Private Schools Athletic Association national games.

Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat headed Zamboanga’s delegation to the PRISAA. However, the mayor failed to join the delegation that made the courtesy call.

In a talk before the Dagupan SP, Councilor Luis Climaco said that in the absence of Mayor Lobregat they were not ready to sign the sisterhood agreement yet even as the Dagupan SP earlier passed a resolution manifesting the intent of the city government to sign a sisterhood pact with Zamboanga City.

Instead, Climaco invited Dagupan City officials to Zamboanga City on the 26th of this month for the signing of the sisterhood agreement between Mayors Benjamin Lim and Lobregat.

The signing, he said, will be very significant because on that day, Zamboanga City would be celebrating its charter anniversary.

The Dagupan SP endorsed the signing of the sisterhood agreement having recognized that Zamboanga is a highly urbanized city like Dagupan. AQL
