‘Biskeg’ to stay even if GMA runs

MALASIQUI-Vice Governor Oscar Lambino said ‘Biskeg Pangasinan’ would stay as a group even if President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo breaks her pledge not to run for reelection next year.

The second most senior official of Pangasinan made this assurance in the wake of a call by the Lakas-CMD ruling party for a national directorate meeting that might draft Mrs. Arroyo as its standard bearer in the coming polls.

‘Biskeg’,   founded   by  Sto. Tomas Mayor Antonio Villar Jr.  is not a political party but its members include all officials of Pangasinan, said Lambino, who is the acting Lakas-CMD chairman of the province and party’s chairm,an in the third district of the province.

He said  it is  possible that members of the ‘Biskeg’ may end up supporting candidates other than the President.

But in the local level, it is expected that all members of the ‘Bisked’ would support common candidates , he said.

Members of ‘Biskeg’ welcomed former Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco when he came to Pangasinan two months ago although some remain loyal  to President  Arroyo but  were hoping she would finally change her mind.

Majority of the members of the Lakas, who include governors, vice governors, board members city and municipal mayors, vice mayors and councilors, want President Arroyo to  run to earn a her own mandate because she has done much for the country, Lambino said.

For his part, Lambino said  he still wants to seek reelection despite many calls for him to run for  congressman in the third district of Pangasinan.

He said he and Governor Victor Agbayani are still effective together in their efforts to push developmental projects in Pangasinan.
