DENR stops reclamation project at Calmay River
THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) finally stopped the reclamation project on a portion of the Calmay River in Dagupan.
       Regional Director Joel Salvador of the DENR's Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and Atty. Joseph Estrella, a lawyer of DENR, served the cease and desist order (CDO) at past noon of Friday to the project proponent, 888 Properties Inc., through Catherine Bermachea, project coordinator.

 

Ticman promises better and more equipment to police
New offices, new cars and additional firepower.
       These are the promises made by Chief Supt. Luizo Ticman, Ilocos regional director, to the municipal and city police officers in the region as part of the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Integrated Transformation Program.

 

GSIS holds dialogue with teachers
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is set to hold a series of dialogues with associations of public school teachers to discuss issues related to service records (SR) and the premium-based policy.
         "We welcome opportunities to have a dialogue with public school teachers so we can explain why  there is a need to implement such policies and to answer whatever questions they may have," said Enriqueta Disuanco, GSIS executive vice president for corporate support sector.

 

Carrera rules Pozorrubio bikefest
Sherwin Carrera, a veteran of international cycling competitions and considered one of Pangasinan's elite riders, opened the year strong by conquering the star-studded Pozorrubio bikefest held on January 10.
        The 24 year old lanky rider from San Fabian, a member of the Pitaki Boyz group, used his international sprinting savoir faire to outspeed his two breakaway partners, Baler Ravena and Sherwin Diamsay, in the last 300 meters to pocket the P10,000 top prize plus a trophy.
