A GOOD BEGINNING FOR 2010
More
mega projects set for Pangasinan
NOTWITHSTANDING the election next year
and its consequent ban on public
infrastructure projects for a certain
period, several "mega projects" are set
for implementation in Pangasinan.
National Economic and Development
Authority (NEDA) Regional Director
Leonardo Quitos, also vice chairman of
the Regional Development Council (RDC),
said the biggest of these projects is
the P4.2 billion re-regulating pond,
which is a major component of the
P7-billion Agno River Integrated
Irrigation Project (ARIIP). |
Alaminos Airport eyed as regional hub
ALAMINOS Airport will be regional air
hub.
The construction of the planned
airport in Alaminos City can be expected
to start late next year after the
acquisition of land requirement shall
have been completed.
Initial funds for the acquisition
have already been released but it has
been clarified that the airport to be
constructed will not be for
international operations but as a
regional hub. |

Tayug vice mayor's bodyguard shot dead
TAYUG—Even before the campaign period
for the 2010 local elections could
start, this town registered already its
first poll-related violence.
Consequently, Tayug may likely be
included anew in the list of election
“hot spots” in the country during the
campaign period and election day on May
2010 following last week’s shooting of a
bodyguard of the vice mayor. |
9 provinces tagged
as 'hot spots'
STA. BARBARA--The Philippine National
Police (PNP) foresees peaceful elections
on May 10 next year but is staying on
high alert for possible election-related
violence and has already placed nine
provinces in the watch list of possible
hot spots.
PNP chief Police Director General
Jesus Verzosa identified the hot spots
as Maguindanao, Abra, Nueva Ecija,
Masbate, Sulu, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del
Norte, Basilan and Samar. |

From the Cathedral of Saint John the
Apostle, January 1, 2010
When the designated time had come,
God sent forth His son, born from a
woman (Gal.4:4)
Narito ang takdang panahon. Sa
kaganapan ng panahon, isinilang ng isang
dalaga ang bugtong na Anak ng Diyos
upang maging ating Tagapagligtas. Si
Jesus, ang Diyos na Sumasaatin, ang
tugon ng mapagmahal na Ama sa lahat ng
ating kakulangan at pagmamalabis.
