THE 10/9 PANGASINAN DELUGE
34 towns, 3 cities flooded
LINGAYEN--Twenty-two persons drowned at the height of the widespread flood spawned by the heavy rains of Typhoon "Pepeng" and the sudden release of huge volume of water of the San Roque Multi-Purpose Project (SRMP) in San Manuel.
A report of the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) showed that the flood, considered as the worst ever in the province post-war, affected 34 towns and three cities in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth districts of Pangasinan.
INSENSITIVE TEXT MESSAGE
Hoax report on dam caused panic
LINGAYEN--The San Roque Dam can be faulted for being the source or cause of the immense and worst flooding that hit Pangasinan but what it is not, that it is about to collapse or that it has been weakened by the unusual volume of water the past days.
The fact is, the dam is very stable and there is no cause for alarm at anytime.
PUNCHLINE
Are we ready for tsunami?
By Ermin Garcia Jr.

THE havoc wrought by both tropical Cyclone Ondoy and Typhoon Pepeng was unprecedented and without a doubt, extremely traumatic for thousands of Pangasinenses. All too sudden, we were made to realize how truly vulnerable we all are in the face of a force that man has no control over – the wrath of nature, or so it seemed.
DTI: No overpricing noted in aftermath
DESPITE the flood, which hit Pangasinan and Metro Manila, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has not reported rise in prices of prime and basic commodities in the local market.
Peter Mangabat, DTI provincial officer, said just like other parts of Luzon, Pangasinan is under the state of calamity and therefore certain items are under price control.
