A PRELUDE TO 2010
Espino to Agbayani: Let’s debate
The 2010 campaign period is still 5 months away but the first political salvo has already been fired between the expected contenders.
Gov. Amado Espino Jr., taking center stage Tuesday in the newly-launched Lingguhang Talakayan sa Kapitolyo, countered point-by-point the four issues raised against him by his predecessor and expected opponent in next year's gubernatorial race.
Alaminos City gets commercial airport
Alaminos City, home of the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP), will become the site of the first commercial airport in the province and will be known as the Pangasinan Airport.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of the Alaminos Airport Development Project was signed on September 24 by the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and the Alaminos City government.

Lomibao defends RFID
SAN FABIAN--Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Assistant Secretary Arturo Lomibao, chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), said his agency is open to consultation and adjustments on the controversial Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System project for motor vehicles.
However, Lomibao stood pat and defended the project, particularly the sale and implementation of the use of the RFID stickers in every motor vehicle in the country.

Region I transport groups hail LTO project
TRANSPORT organizations in Region 1 have endorsed the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project, set to be implemented by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in October, unless deferred by Malacañang or the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
Benny Aquino, president of the Association of United Transport Organization-Provincewide (Auto-Pro), representing 22 transport associations in Pangasinan, announced the group's support to the RFID project after attending a regional dialogue on the project in San Fernando City called by DOTC Undersecretary Arturo Lomibao, chief of the LTO.
80 firms in BIR watchlist
AFTER shutting down the operations of eight drug stores of Jan Mark Corporation in Pangasinan, Teodulo Paragas, chief of the Special Investigation Division of the BIR Regional Office, said about 80 more establishments, most of which are located in Pangasinan, remain in the watchlist.
The closure order for the drug stores issued last week by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) under Operation Kandado, remains effective at presstime after the company failed to settle its tax deficiencies.

Overseas Dagupeños vow to join "Pawil Dagupan"
IT will be Pawil Dagupan for thousands of overseas Dagupenos this Christmas and during the Bangus Festival in April next year.
This was disclosed by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez who led a delegation of Dagupan officials to the United States for the signing of a city-sisterhood agreement with Milpitas and to encourage Dagupenos in the US to come home to join the two celebrations.
