5 SLAIN SHOOT-OUT
San Fabian 'Doc' eyed as kidnap group
head
A MAN nicknamed "Doc" who comes from an
influential family in San Fabian has
been tagged as the leader and protector
of the five suspected members of a
kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) group slain in a
shootout with police and military
authorities at dawn Wednesday.
P/Sr. Supt. Isagani Nerez, chief of
the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response
(PACER), said "Doc" is now under
investigation shortly after five
suspected members of a suspected KFR
group were killed in a shoot-out with
the police in Dagupan City. |
Malasiqui execs face civil raps
MALASIQUI--Mayor Armando Domantay and
members of the municipal council here
are in for more trouble over the lease
contract it entered into with the Magic
Group of Companies for a 1,100 square
meter prime public land.
An Omnibus Motion filed by a private
citizen, Mario T. Armas, before the
Regional Trial
Court in San Carlos City, charges
Domantay and other town officials with
civil offence for allowing the filling
up of the Binalbalolong River with
gravel and sand, which thus expands "the
realty unconstitutionally leased out to
Magic Group of Companies". |

Government modifies plan for flood
control project
THE stalled P1.5 billion Agno River
Flood Control Project in Alcala will be
finished without uprooting a single
mahogany tree of the 10,000 trees
planted on its path.
Engr. Fidel Ginez, director of the Agno
Floor Control
Office, said a two-meter high parapet
wall will be constructed as an
alternative to the originally planned
guide channel. |
BJMP builds new septic tank
THE Bureau of Jail Management and
Penology (BJMP) is finally constructing
a facility within the district jail
compound in Dagupan for the disposal of
the jail's waste water instead of it
being discharged into the beach and the
Lingayen Gulf.
This was reported by the Community
Environment and Natural Resources Office
(CENRO) in a letter to The PUNCH dated
July 22, 2009, in response to the
paper's "Our People Have Not Forgotten"
column. |
Dagupenos told: Learn to live with tidal
floods
THE tidal floods in Dagupan are here to
stay.
Two engineers of the Department of Public
Works and Highways (DPWH) have opined
that there is practically no solution to
the long-standing and perennial flooding
in parts of the city caused by high tide
as the problem is now worsened by global
warming. |
