HB 4267 A GERRYMANDERING
Espino slams redistricting
LINGAYEN--Governor Amado Espino Jr. has
slammed the proposed redistricting of
the province, saying House Bill 4267,
which contains the move, is tinted with
gerrymandering.
The proposed law, authored jointly by
Reps. Victor Agbayani of the second
district and Rachel Arenas of the third
district, is not based on public
consultation and a thorough study,
according to Espino.

Agbayani defends HB 4267
SECOND District Rep. Victor Agbayani
said selfish political motives torpedoed
and blocked the approval of House Bill
4267, containing a proposed
redistricting of the province which he
authored.
"This would have been the
proper time to do it," Agbayani told
Pangasinan newsmen after the Senate
committee chaired by Senator Benigno
Aquino II failed to act on the bill.

Lakers will be NBA champ
in 6 games
By Al S. Mendoza
AS I WRITE this, Game 1 (Friday, June 5) of the 2009 NBA
Finals has yet to begin.
The Los Angeles Lakers, the
Western Conference champions, and Orlando Magic, the
Eastern Conference titlists, are supposed to be playing
Game 2 today, Sunday.
Who will it be this year?
There are seven games in the NBA Finals,
with the team winning four games clinching the
championship.
Did the Lakers win Game 1, as
many had predicted?

Cruz blames GMA for people's distrust
LINGAYEN--Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz
said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
only has herself to blame for the
lingering doubt among majority of the
people about the credibility of
Malacañang's pronouncement that the 2010
elections will push through.
Cruz, in an interview with The PUNCH,
said Arroyo has repeatedly committed
duplicity, citing as an example how she
announced that she would not run for
president again but eventually did in
2004.

UL cited for being RP's drum and bugle
champ
THE University of Luzon (UL) received a
citation last week from the Dagupan
Sangguniang Panglungsod
for winning the grand championship in
the recent National Confederation of
Drug and Bugle Corps of the Philippines
competition.
UL president Mac-Arthur Samson accepted the
citation contained in Resolution No.
6367-2009.
"The victory of the University of
Luzon Drum and Bugle Corps brought honor
and prestige not only to the school but
also to the city of Dagupan,” the
resolution reads.
