FBI commends Pangasinan cops for arrest US fugitive
STA. BARBARA--The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) commended 18 policemen for the arrest of a fugitive American lawyer in Barangay Botao here last June 16.
       In a simple ceremony at the town police station, certificates of recognition were handed to the policemen led by P/Supt Eric Noble, chief of police, who participated in the arrest of Joseph Alden Arriola, 42, who was wanted by the FBI.

       Assistant Legal Attaché John Sapinoso of the United States embassy presented the awards to the policemen.

'Tidal flood in Dagupan blamed on climate change
"FLOODING occurs in Dagupan no matter how we dredge".
       This was the reaction of City Administrator Alvin Fernandez, to call for more dredging activities to mitigate the regular flooding in some coastal areas of Dagupan every time high tide occurs.
        "He stressed that the flooding in areas near river banks is caused by the phenomenon of climate change, which can not be prevented "even if we dredge the river."


 

 

Toyo, patis, suka and alcohol on the table!
If one city councilor can have his way, restaurants will have re-invented themselves to introduce a new health and eating lifestyle.
       For starters, in addition to the usual provisions for salt and pepper shakers, paper napkins and containers for condiments on the table, he would like to see restaurants provide a bottle of alcohol or hand sanitizer in all tables as well.
 

Comelec notes poor turnout of young voters
After five months of intensive media and barangay networking campaign, the turnout of first-time voters in Commission of Election offices in the province to register has been dismal.
       Only 23,352 young voters (or 22%) registered out of an estimated 106,000 new voters in the province.

       The estimate was based on the number of voters who registered for the 2007 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataaan Elections that totaled 118,520, all of whom were 15-17 years old.

 

First dialysis center opens this month
The first government-owned dialysis center in Pangasinan will open soon to serve patients, especially the indigent ones.
        "We will inaugurate our very own dialysis center this month," Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. said during his site visit to the Mayor Julian Resuello Dialysis Center of the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos Citylast June 20.
