Fugitive American lawyer arrested in Sta. Barbara
STA. BARBARA--A fugitive American lawyer who fled to the Philippines two years ago after he ran afoul with the law in his homeland was arrested by the police in Sta. Barbara town on Tuesday morning. 
       Arrested initially for violation of Philippine Immigration laws in Barangay Cablong, was Joseph Aldan Arriola, who was indicted for unbailable offenses in the United States of America.

'Calasiao official is assassin's new victim
CALASIAO--Assassins riding tandem on a motor-cycle struck again. Their most recent victim was a department head of the municipal government.
        Killed was Engineer Domingo Ballesteros, 48, economic  enterprise officer and resident of Malabago here while he and some of his officemates were walking on their way to attend a wake  Tuesday afternoon in Tesoro Street, Barangay Poblacion West here.

4 carnappers nabbed, 2 hostages rescued
CAMP FLORENDO, La Union-- Elements of the Urdaneta police intercepted and arrested four suspected kidnappers-car hijackers and rescued their two hostages at a police checkpoint last Thursday afternoon.
        In his report to Chief Supt. Ramon Gatan, police regional director, Urdaneta Police Chief Rodolfo Castil said two women held hostage by the suspects inside the car they had hijacked at gunpoint, were rescued.
