WORSE THAN "COSME"
"Emong" wreaks havoc in Western Pangasinan
LINGAYEN—Several towns were isolated and left without electricity as western Pangasinan absorbed the brunt of Typhoon "Emong" that lashed out Thursday night.

A report from the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council said hardest hit were Bolinao, Anda, Agno Burgos and Bani as the typhoon exited to the Lingayen Gulf towards La Union and Benguet.
1st District, under State of Calamity
DEVASTATION caused by Typhoon "Emong" prompted the provincial board to pass a resolution on Friday declaring a state of calamity in the first district of the province.

The state of calamity proclamation will give the affected areas access to the calamity fund. Aside from Bolinao, Anda and Alaminos City, which were hardest hit by the typhoon, other towns in the 1st district include Bani, Dasol, Burgos, Agno, Mabini, Infanta, and Sual.

WE join friends, relatives and admirers of Dr. Luciano Fernandez who passed away last week. He was 79.

He had just returned from People's Republic of China and Cambodia after a week-long trip when he died. He rejoins his wife, Richa, who had earlier died. His son, a good friend from way, way back, shares his clinic at the Pangasinan Medical Center, but according to a mutual friend, Winnie was planning to give up the place for a physician friend probably so as not to feel the pangs of loneliness.
Calasiao builds new town hall
CALASIAO--Construction for a new three-storey municipal building, to replace the hall that was razed to the ground last year, will start in two weeks, Mayor Roy Macanlalay announced.

Macanlalay, speaking during the town fiesta celebration Sunday, said a P60-million loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines will be used to finance the building.
