Agbayani fumes over proposed renaming of park
FORMER governor Victor Agbayani, now the congressional representative for the 2nd district, is upset over the proposed renaming of the Governor Aguedo F. Agbayani Park, named after his father, to simply Governors' Park.
        
Agbayani said the authors of the proposed ordinance, which has already been approved on first reading by the provincial board, are ignorant of the law and playing on "transactional politics".
 
Lucao wins best "Gulayan sa Paaralan"
Lucao Elementary School was adjudged anew the Most Effective "Gulayan Sa Paaralan" Pagsasarili Program implementor in the sustainability category. This is its fifth citation.
       
Carael Elementary School and East Central Elementary School (Mayombo) placed second and third place, respectively.
         In the big school category, Pantal Elementary School was listed as the best followed by North Central Elementary School (Bonuan Gueset), Malued  Elementary  School and Federico N. Ceralde Elementary School.

R1MC's expansion
THE surgical and OB sections of the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan will soon be expanded with the addition of 120 beds through a P40 million funding approved recently by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
       “We hope the funding shall be released soon so that more patients will be conveniently treated here,” Dr. Roland Mejia, RIMC hospital director, told The PUNCH, adding that the good news was relayed to him by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, a son of Dagupan.

Sto. Domingo holds one-man photo exhibit
Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. describes him as a consummate artist while Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez calls him “ El Maestro”.
        Raymund Sto. Domingo, a local businessman, received this accolade when he opened his one-man photo exhibit at the Big Atrium of CSI the City Mall as a special feature of the Dagupan Bangus Festival 2009.
        The photo exhibit of Sto. Domingo considered as the only master photographer in the province was opened in the afternoon of Tuesday (April 21) and will be on until April 27.
 
'Ligtas Lakbay' campaign gets a boost
MANGALDAN--With more than 10,000 lives lost annually due to vehicular accidents, Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Art Lomibao announced his plan to further strengthen the Department of Transportation and Communications’ (DOTC) Ligtas Lakbay program.
       
Speaking on the eve of the founding anniversary celebration of the LTO, Lomibao said it can be achieved with the implementation of a massive, year-long and nationwide campaign on Road Safety.
 
Korean artists join Bangus Festival
KOREAN artists are also participating in the Dagupan Bangus Festival 2009.
       The Meog Saem Korean Artist Association (MSKAA) currently have their works on display at the second level of CSI the City Mall until May 3.
       Dr. Tae Durk Park of the Universal Communication Learning Institute, coordinator of the exhibit and whose wife is a Filipina from Dagupan, said this is the first exhibit of MSKAA in the Philippines and the second one will be at the Paskuhan Village in San Fernando, Pampanga from May 9 to 23.
