RIFT OVER BAGUL WORSENS
PDEA, prosecutors
trade bribery raps
THE word war between the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the City
Prosecutors Office in Dagupan has
escalated with the former insinuating
that money changed hands when the latter
resolved to release arrested drug lord
Datu Michael Bagul.
In the complaint filed by PDEA before the Regional State
Prosecutor, the agency assailed the
resolution and implied thatmembers of
the City Prosecutor's office received a
bribe for Bagul's release. |
Timor
Leste's 2nd top official enjoys Dagupan
Bangus Fest
WITH the huge crowd that mobbed the
opening of the Dagupan Bangus Festival
on April 15, the presence of the second
highest official of Timor Leste and his
family who joined the celebration was
hardly noticed.
But those at home watching the live
coverage of the festival's opening on
cable television through Urban Satellite
Vision (USATV) got a closer view of
Fernando La Sama De Araojo, president of
the National Parliament of
Timor Leste,
and his family, while they jostled their
way into the milling crowd. |

P4.5B re-regulating pond construction
starts in May
THREE Chinese companies have qualified
to bid for the construction of the
P4.5-billion re-regulating pond of the
San Roque Multi-purpose Dam project in
San Manuel town.
The project, which will irrigate an
additional 70,000 hectares of rice farms
in the provinces of Pangasinan, Tarlac
and Nueva Ecija, will be financed
through a loan from the Export Import
Bank of China. |
E-mail a crime in Sta. Barbara
STA. BARBARA--The police in this largely
agricultural town is going 'hi-tech' by
offering e-mail service for reporting
crimes.
Superintendent Eric Noble, town police
chief, said this is particularly useful
for the youth who nowadays get a lot of
exposure to computer applications.

BARANGAY Lucao's street dancers topped
the
Gilon! Gilon!

street dancing competition, the opening
day highlight of the 2009 Bangus
Festival on April 15.
The Lucao contingent received the
P80,000 first prize from the Bangus
Festival Committee headed by Vice Mayor
Belen Fernandez. |
Another drug suspect nabbed
Finally,
a drug suspect nabbed, charged.
Another suspected illegal drug dealer was
arrested by the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and this time,
he was
promptly turned over to the City
Prosecutors Office for inquest.
The suspect, Abdul Rashid Ismael of
Bonuan Tondaligan, is now in jail facing
charges for violation of Republic Act
9165, including the selling of illegal
drugs, an unbailable
offense, and
possession of illegal drugs. |
