REMINISCENT OF ALABANG BOYS' CASE
PDEA, prosecutors at war over Bagul
REMINISCENT of the case of the celebrated Alabang Boys in Metro Manila, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 1 has found itself in a major conflict with the Prosecutor's Office in Dagupan City.
        The bad blood between the two government agencies today stems from the release of Datu Michael Bagul, tagged as the leader of a notorious Bagul group involved in illegal drug dealing, barely two days after his arrest on March 21 at 3:00 p.m.
Timor Leste 1st Lady comes home to Dagupan
SHE could have brought nannies, household staff, security detail and a host of orderlies befitting her stature but the interim First Lady of Timor Leste preferred to keep a low profile when she visited her hometown Dagupan for a vacation.
       
The wife of Fernando Lasama de Araujo, president of the National Parliament of East Timor, the second highest man in the youngest country in the world, came home almost unnoticed with her only son Hadomi.

Gov. Espino to PNP: Mobilize vs. 3 crimes
ILLEGAL drugs, akyat-bahay gangs, and environment offenders. The three are now at the top of the provincial police's order of battle.
        Governor Amado Espino Jr. has ordered the PNP to marshal its forces in fighting against these menaces after expressing satisfaction over the successful operation of the police on cattle rustling.

LTO Oplan Paglalakbay launched
OPLAN Paglalakbay was launched by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dagupan on Tuesday when LTO Chief Arturo Lomibao started making the rounds of bus terminals in the city to make sure that drivers and operators are fit to commute passengers.
        The project, a road safety awareness program of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and LTO, will be implemented across the country not just during the Holy Week but also during the Christmas holidays, All Saints Day, opening of classes, and every peak season for travelers.
Bangus Festival kicks off
THE countdown is on for the Dagupan Bangus Festival which opens on April 15 featuring a long list of events until its culmination on May 1.
       
The installation of light posts along the Jose R. de Venecia Expressway Extension, the venue for several events, is now being completed in time for the opening on Wednesday.
      
Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, chair of the 2009 Dagupan Bangus Festival, is confident everything will fall into place as all efforts are being exerted to make the celebration a success.
Province hails war veterans
LINGAYEN--Leading the Araw ng Kagitingan celebration in the province, Governor Amado Espino Jr. underscored the contributions of the country's veterans and the importance of continually remembering their heroism.
       "Only few today remember our war veterans and their sacrifices for the Filipinos,” Espino noted during the ceremony held at the Veterans" Memorial Park last Tuesday and urged today's and future generation never to forget what they did for the country.
